About Tropics Bar & Grill

In the heart of Honolulu, right on Kālia Road, there lies a spot that feels like paradise itself: Tropics Bar & Grill. Nestled within the Hilton Hawaiian Village, this sleek eatery serves as a gateway to the tastes and vibes of the islands while offering unrivaled ocean views that truly set the stage for a memorable dining experience. Getting a table with a view is like winning the dining lottery, and though the place is popular, the wait tends to be worth every minute.

From the moment the menu is opened, the hard choices begin. Each dish offers a taste of local comfort with an upscale twist that is hard to resist. It's the kind of menu where Hawaiian classics share space with unexpected delights. Imagine sinking teeth into a succulent plate of grilled fish tacos or savoring the richness of a perfectly seasoned loco moco. And for those craving something a bit more indulgent, the menu raises the stakes with its signature tropical ribs, sticky and sweet with just the right amount of tang.

The ambiance adds to the charm of Tropics Bar & Grill. As the sun starts to dip below the horizon, casting fiery reds and gold across the waters, nightly live music begins to play. The notes blend seamlessly with the sound of waves, creating a rhythm that feels as much a part of the meal as anything on the plate. It's not uncommon to see diners swaying slightly to the music, drinks in hand, smiles lighting up their faces.

Those who've had the privilege to visit leave with rave reviews, praising both the flavors and the atmosphere. It's a place that consistently delivers, whether it be a romantic dinner for two or a casual gathering with friends. Reviews often highlight the friendly service and the staff's dedication to ensuring each guest feels welcomed and valued. It's clear that a visit is more than just a meal; it's an experience.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5/5 — Martini
This was one of my favourite restaurants in Honolulu. I had the brisket which was absolutely amazing. Very tender and the sauce was sweet. The Hawaiian light beer was also good. We sat outside and enjoy the sound of the ocean. Many food options including burgers, fish and meat dishes. They also had options for local fish. The staff was also more than friendly. Highly recommended.

This 5/5 review is solely for our server and bartender who treated us like ohana! Food here is okay but pricey for what it is, and there are definitely better options elsewhere. That said, if you’re in a pinch or don’t feel like leaving the hotel, it works. We came here twice during our stay and had great service from our bartender, Henry. We ordered the poke, wings, and fries—I’d pass on the poke, but the wings and fries were a hit. Solid bar food overall if you’re into that, but otherwise I’d recommend eating elsewhere.

🥗 Tropics Bar & Grill – Hilton Hawaiian Village (Breakfasts) Review: Tropics Bar & Grill delivered some of the best breakfasts of our entire trip. The menu is thoughtfully designed around fresh, tropical, and wholesome ingredients, making it exceptionally easy to eat both deliciously and health-consciously. From vibrant fruit plates to balanced breakfast options, every meal felt light, energizing, and nourishing — the perfect way to begin each day of exploration and ocean activities. The open-air setting, ocean breeze, and relaxed island atmosphere further elevated the experience, making breakfast here not just a meal, but a daily wellness ritual. Highly recommended for travelers who prioritize both flavor and health.

We had a larger group and they accommodated is fully! The receptionist was polite and sat us despite only half the group was ready. We had Ramfis as our server and hands down one of the very best I've ever had! Attentive, polite and truly the definition of service! The food was tasty and the view was amazing!

Nice menu, servers were friendly, hosts could have been friendlier. We enjoyed our drinks, and food. Restaurant was clean, and had plenty of seating. The patio was very nice to be out on. We have done two meals in the restaurant (one breakfast and one dinner), even did a breakfast pickup, the potatoes are REALLY good. Avocado toast was fine, a little too much sauce vs avocado for me. The menu has a good amount of options, and I’d have no problem returning to try more options.

This is a cute spot. I was able to make it to the happy hour and I thought the size of the food was good. They have a singer sometimes while eating outside and it’s a good vibe. It’s right by the Hilton Hawaiian village.
